Kim Lemoine, Committee Member

Animal Advocate/Vet Tech

Kim has witnessed the professionalism and positive impact of Summitt Animal Assisted Therapy teams first-hand and is proud to serve as an advisor. She first became interested in this effort while visiting nursing homes and school reading programs with her Jack Russell Terrier, Freddie, with another organization. Her top priority is to provide the very best experience possible for the care recipient, and all members of the therapy team.

She has 20 years of experience as a veterinary technician caring for dogs and cats, mostly in emergency and critical care departments. Collaborating in veterinary settings to create educational materials and develop training and safety materials are also activities Kim enjoys. In the past, she worked as a Disaster Services instructor and volunteer for the American Red Cross of the National Capital Region where she led CPR/First Aid and Pet First Aid courses, and assisted people affected by disasters.

Kim holds both a BA in Earth Science and an MA degree in Earth Science Education both from the University of Northern Iowa, and an AAS-Veterinary Technology degree from Northern Virginia Community College.

Kim and her husband live in Northern Virginia with their four lively dogs.
